Spider-man 3… Awesome

May 3rd, 2007

While I was writing this blog, I was just came back from watching Spider-man 3 from the cinema… I only have one word to describe about this move… AWESOME…

This movie is fantastic… Great storyline, great special effects, great stunts… Sam Raimi and gang have done a great job… again…

Spider-man 3

In this story, Spider-man has become famous and loved by the people of New York after defeating Green Goblin and Dr. Octopus in its previous two movies… at the same time, he is struggling in the relationship with his girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson and the friendship with Harry Osborn, who believe Spider-man murdered his father…. Tobey did well in expressing the pain and conflicts of Peter Parker….

This time, there is no longer one villain… there are all together 4 villains that Spider-man have to faced… Sandman, Venom, New Goblin and of course the Symbiote Spider-man, a black suit Spider-man that has been consumed by an alien symbiote and amplified his aggression…

Spider-man 3 - Sandman

Flint Marko, a tragic villain who accidentally turn into Sandman, who possesses the power of manipulating sands. He is a good person, as he claimed in the movie. He uses his power to rob for money, in order to save his dying daughter. He was actually the killer of Peter’s uncle, Uncle Ben. But he didn’t do it in purpose. The movie explained clearly how did it happened…

New Goblin aka Harry Osborn. He is the son of Norman Osborn, The Green Goblin in the first movie. He believed that Spider-man is the one who killed his father. He possesses Super-Human ability from his father’s experiment. He is trying to kill Spider-man few times but failed. Eventually, both of them fight hand-in-hand against Venom and Sandman.

Spider-man 3 - Symbiote Spidey

Symbiote Spider-man, Spider-man with black suit after consumed by an alien symbiote. The alien Symbiote amplified the aggression of Peter Parker, turn him become more powerful but at the same time more violent and aggressive. His aggression almost killed Harry Osborn in the movie. Eventually, he was being “awaken” and he managed to get rid of the symbiote control.

Spider-man 3 - Venom

Venom, my favourite villain in the Spider-man series. He possesses the same power like Spider-man, such as webbing, wall crawling and even Spider Sense. Eddie Brock is the second host of the symbiote after Peter managed to detach it from possessing him. Eddie is a photographer like Peter and both of them working in Daily Bugle. In order to “overtake” Peter, he faked a photo claiming the Symbiote Spider-man involve in a robbery. But it was revealed by Peter and Eddie get fired eventually. He blamed Peter for ruin his life and swear to kill him. He is being consumed by the symbiote while Peter “tearing” the symbiote off his body in a church.

The special effects and the stunts are marvelous. The fighting scene at the end of the movie really unforgettable.

Overall, I give Spider-man 3… TWO THUMBS UP…. The DVD version is a must buy for me…

Kryptonite really exists??

April 26th, 2007

Do you ever think the Kryptonite, the rock that would weaken Superman really exist?? Is Kryptonite only exist in the comic world??

It is no longer a creation of comic… It is real, according to an article from Reuters:

LONDON (Reuters) - Kryptonite, which robbed Superman of his powers, is no longer the stuff of comic books and films.

A mineral found by geologists in Serbia shares virtually the same chemical composition as the fictional kryptonite from outer space, used by the superhero’s nemesis Lex Luther to weaken him in the film “Superman Returns”.

“We will have to be careful with it — we wouldn’t want to deprive Earth of its most famous superhero!,” said Dr Chris Stanley, a mineralogist at London’s Natural History Museum.

Kryptonite is real...

Stanley, who revealed the identity of the mysterious new mineral, discovered the match after searching the Internet for its chemical formula - sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide.

“I was amazed to discover that same scientific name written on a case of rock containing kryptonite stolen by Lex Luther from a museum in the film Superman Returns,” he said.

The substance has been confirmed as a new mineral after tests by scientists at the Natural History Museum in London and the National Research Council in Canada.

But instead of the large green crystals in Superman comics, the real thing is a white, powdery substance which contains no fluorine and is non-radioactive.

The mineral, to be named Jadarite, will go on show at the London’s Natural History Museum at certain times of the day on Wednesday, April 25, and Sunday, May 13.
